new template

Asked by Jaap

I like to make a new fil format (96 x 65 px) I am on MAC os x 10.6 Leopard Snow.
I guess I have to make a new template. is this right?

Help says about Custom Templates:

New drawing templates can be added by adding new files to the directory share/inkscape/templates [THIS file does not exist, do I have to make it??]
(for system-wide use) or to the templates subdirectory in your Inkscape preferences directory. [I find a preferences menu, a preferences diractory does not exist, in Inkscape/ contents / resources/ ]
As of v0.46, the templates directory is listed under the Places part of the Save As dialog. [in save as dialog no 'places' ]
You can directly save any SVG file to this directory. Saving the file as default.svg will replace your current default template.
thanks

Template location:

In the 'Save as…' and 'Save a Copy…' file dialog 'Places' means the list on the left side you get when you expand the dialog to its full size (click 'Browse for other folders'). There is an entry 'templates' in the second group of bookmarked places. Use this to store a template in your personal templates folder.

The location of the user templates:
'/Users/{your_user_name}/.config/inkscape/templates'

It is better to store them there then to add them to the 'share/templates' folder inside the application bundle - these would be lost whenever you update and install a new version of Inkscape. The user templates however stay in you account and are still available in the next versions of Inkscape.

To see the files in the Finder, use 'Go to Folder…' from the Finder menu 'Go' and enter the path to your templates (without the quotes): '~/.config/inkscape/templates' .

'~' is a shortcut notation for your home folder
'.config' is a hidden folder inside your home folder (the Finder hides all files and folders that start with a '.')

Thanks for help,

in Places is no templates (a search with Spotlight gives no template(S) for inkscape.
in ~/.config/inkscape/ is no template. (there is extention-errors.log and preferences.xml)
In the application bundle is no 'templates'

I could make one (I did) in .config/Inkscape.
then save this new file in templates in Places
then i have to restart inkscape to see the new template in the list of templates.
