Why can't I import/open a jpg picture from my pictures?

Why can't I import/open a jpg picture from my pictures? When I try inkspace crashes. I've been trying to use this software for three days and it seem to crash over most operations.

Could you provide some info about version of Inkscape and your OS?

My OS is Windows XP. I've tried both v.46 and v pre.47 of Inscape. Both have crashed when trying to upload a jpg created in Photoshop from My Pictures. Thanks.

Koptev,

I found the problem. I did not group my layers together in PSE before saving the file to my pictures. Once done, Inkscape could upload the file just fine.

However, take note that Inkscape did crash, instead of just notifying me that it could not complete the operation.

Anyway - looks strange, that jpg couldn't import..
