Can I create ico file in Inkscape?

Asked by bumpyknuckle

I would like to create an .ico file so that my icon will appear in IE on the address bar and bookmarks. Can I do this in Inkscape? If not, is there another program I can use?

Hello

Inkscape couldn't build .ico files directly. but with Inkscape you can do the source PNG images for them.
for 'favicons' you told - you simply could use Irfanview or GIMP or any other image processing tool to convert PNG into ICO.

But if you want to build 'true' .ico file (with many icons for different resolutions/bitdepths) you need to search some special tools i suppose.

@bumpyknuckle:

You can use this free app to easily convert your saved picture as an icon. (*.ico)
