how to convert png to dxf?

how to convert png to dxf?
I brought in a png file and want to convert it to a dxf...is this possible?

Hi Bert

Exporting to dxf is possible, but not ideal. See http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/File-Export.html for full details. The following should work:

i. Ensure Pstoedit is installed, http://www.pstoedit.com/

1) Ctrl + I or File > Import...
2) Shift+ Ctrl + S or File > Save As.. > Select .dxf from dialog

1) Open the .png file you want to convert in Inkscape.
2) From "Path" menu select "Trace Bitmap...".
3) Trace Window will display. Select suitable type and adjust values to get better paths for your PNG, then click OK.
4) Save your image by "File > Save as" and select "dxf" Type from bottom menu in save as window.
