Inkscape not running on Windows XP with no SP

Asked by LucaDC

I installed Inkscape 0.46 on a Windows XP "original" (i.e. with no service packs, not even SP1) and it works well.
Then I tried some more recent developement version to get newer features but I can't have it starting: a small Inkscape (not system)dialog window appears telling that an internal error prevented the application from starting (my system is in Italian so I don't have the exact translation in English).
I also tried recompiling sources from scratch on that system but (after 75 min and some seconds...) the result was the same.

Is there somethig I can do to have Inkscape run on my old WXP? Is there a compiling option I need to change (e.g. turn debug off or something like that) that is different in official 0.46 and makes it work?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I will convert this into a bug (which it is). See right toolbar here named "Related bugs" for the link.
Could you at first try the oldest development version you can get to see if it works there.
Then get the console or gdb backtrace output (inkscape's wiki will hopefully help you on how to do it) of running inkscape and paste this as comment to the bug.
Also, thanks for reporting.

Sorry but I can't fine the relative bug: I assume it isn't opened yet so I'll ask here: where can I find development versions older than Ishmal's ones? His oldest is of 10-Nov-2008.

Thank you.

Sorry, I got misleaded in between :) thanks for reminding.
I don't think there are any older devel's available than Ishmal's.

Can you help with this problem?
