Using greek characters in InkScape

I would like to use greek characters within my inkscape file/drawing. Is this possible?

it's easily done by using the textext extension of inkscape:
http://www.elisanet.fi/ptvirtan/software/textext/textext-0.4.3.tar.gz
once that you have the extension running you type for example: $\alpha$ for getting the alpha symbol, etc. by the way, do you know how to use LaTeX??

You could also switch between several keyboard mappings/layouts. See Computer->Preferences->Keyboard on GNOME, Control Panel->Keyboard in KDE and Control Panel->Regional and Language options->Languages->Detail in Windows XP.
