Bamboo Tabletpen doesn't does not draw

Asked by Kevin

Hi,

I just bought a Bamboo tablet pen, but am unable to get it to draw. It's motion activates menus and when I draw the motion is detected on the screen -- just no lines.

The previously listed links for updated code do not work -- is there a more current build I could use?

I operate a Windows XP machine.

Thanks!

This sounds like it could be a general GTK+ config issue (the Bamboo is know to have some issues with GTK+). Do you get the same problems when using The GIMP under Windows, or with other GTK+ applications?

GTK+ (ver. 2.12.10):

496958 Wacom Bamboo doesn't function with GTK apps in Win32

If we release 0.46.1, we will rebuild it with a newer version of GTK+ ;-)

Gtk+-2.12.10 came out today. Give this build a try:

Hi Kevin,

Saw your post regarding the compatibility of the Bamboo tablet with Inkscape. My tablet is jerky as well, but it will not draw. It will activate buttons, but will not produce any drawings. Do you know why? Can you help?

Frank

Please try the following build to see if the issues are resolved: http://inkscape.chrismorgan.info/win32-builds/Inkscape-0.47pre2-2.exe

Hi,
Just wondering if a solution to the Bamboo pen tablet problem has been found, as I'm having the same problem. It works perfectly in Gimp (I have it open & am drawing on it now) but not responding at all in Inkscape. I'm using a laptop in Windows Vista. When I attach a mouse, it doesn't work either, but the mousepad of the laptop works.

I haven't been able to get it to work yet with Inkscape.

Hi, I found the answer - go to File, Input Devices & tick the relevant boxes. Being new to Inkscape (only downloaded it 2 days ago) I hadn't had a chance to explore it much, but problem solved!

OK thanks--I'll try it. I haven't used the pen much because I couldn't
get it to work with Inkscape.
