Inkscape won't accept my true type font.

Asked by keelowitt

Good Evening.

I use Inkscape to create text which eventually end up as .eps files opened in Signcut x2 to be cut on a vinyl plotter/cutter. They are generally very simple graphics, maybe two layers, maybe arched. Mostly small 3-4 word phrases.

I have several True Type fonts that I have purchased and downloaded from www.twopeasinabucket.com. Inkscape will not "read" the fonts. If I try to use any of the fonts, usually named "2PeasFONTNAME" Inkscape reverts to the default.

Is there anything I need to do to these fonts or to Inkscape to allow them to work together?

Thank you.

Katie.

I guess that with "reverts to the default" you mean the font appears on the menu but when you select it a sans font, like BitstreamVeraSans, gets used instead? This could be related to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/167353 Inkscape seems to still mess non-standard font weight variant names to me. Read specifically the comment by Denis Jacquerye.

It would be interesting to know if that font shows up in other applications.

Can you help with this problem?
