Non destructive boolean operations

Asked by OVERD

Is it possible to support it in Inkscape?
For example, if I intersect two objects and want to change the intersection, I had to redo the operation.
It would be very convenient to change original paths anytime.
Some sort of non destructive editing can be provided by combined paths (Ctrl+K), but the result they given isn`t entirely acceptable (if I need to apply some stroke color, I`ll see all outlines instead of overall border).

Hi OVERD,

take a look at masking and clipping, maybe you will find what you need there:
http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Clip.html

Be aware that some (probably all?) browsers currently do not support masks and clippings, so if you need to use a graphic with a mask/clipping on a website, you'll be happier if you export it to png and use the png for your website ;-)

This is a work-in-progress 2geom toy (live boolops). It may make it into Inkscape one day.
