how to make ai file become vector file

Hi

I am Powerpoint designer. Mostly client send me the logo in ai format.
How to make that logo as vector format in inkscape.
so I can copy and paste to powerpoint without the white background.
Becasue right now everytime , I copy & paste from inkscape still come out with white background.

Do you have white rectangle behind the logo? Or is logo just an raster (bitmap) image inside AI file? If the latter, then just export the image and use GIMP or Photoshop to edit it.
