Real world scales

Hi folks,

Although I'm an Inkscape newbie, I have searched this forum and the online docs for a reference but haven't turned anything up. So here goes with a first question.

I'm trying to duplicate a common task in CorelDraw and Visio - space planning. I want to use Inkscape as a planning tool for an agricultural society to plan and print show layouts. Typically a tent or show ring will be up to 150mtrs x 80mtrs with a range of pen sizes to be arranged inside. Easy in the software I'm used to - I just create an A4 drawing and set a suitable scale which then appears on rulers and object properties. I can't see any way to do this in Inkscape - Am I missing the blindingly obvious?

Hi PerryW,

Inkscape does not have a scale feature currently.

However, I also use Inkscape for doing scale drawings of woodworking and landscaping designs. The "workaround" I use is to turn on the grid and then establish my own scale mentally. E.g., 10 grid units to 1 meter. I'll also often draw a "ruler" to help in measuring since there is not a dimension measurement tool supported in Inkscape yet.

I also need to CHANGE the ruler scale for many jobs.

Your question seems a bit unclear...

The units of measure for a document can be changed in File>Document Prefs
