How to create text filled with photo

How do you create text that is filled with a photo. I have tried making my photo a pattern then filling the text but the photo doesn't fit well and cannot be moved within the letter. Help!

Google for using clipping in Inkscape.

In a nutshell:
1. Convert your text into path.
2. Select both you text and image
3. Right click on these and pick "Set clipping object" (or whatever the label is)
