How to ad new document formats?

Asked by Frits Niessen

I would like to use Inkscape to make titles pages to use in the OpenShot Video editor.
My video format is 1280 x 720.
The standard document format in Inkscape should be the same, but is not concluded in Inkscapes "file-new" list. Could you tell me how to make a new document format and how to ad that format to the new list? I'm working with Ubuntu11.04, 64 bit. My Ubuntu and Inkscape's native language is Dutch.

Thank you in advance!

You can create a new template and save as default or add to the normal list.

Dear tangoku!

Thank you for your quick response!
Your answer was very helpful, but not the final solution.
I followed your advices and when it was not working, I found that "my" template has to beduplicated - as root - in /usr/share/inkscape/templates, between all other templates.
When I start now Inkscape>new, my own template exist between all other templates to choose from.

Thank you for your help again!
