My problem WAS that typing the spacebar between words movede the insertion point in reverse

My Problem is solved. Please read before posting.......

The problem I had was the insertion point moved BACK over previously typed text when the spacebar was used between words. Several answers were provided but none solved the problem I had. Eventually I solved the problem when I realized the toolboxes which appear at the top of the page when typing text, control kerning etc.and that one of these was set at a large negative value. I have never had experience with these types of tools so was unaware of their purpose. The problem is now solved and I am much wiser for it. I thank those who offered their advise. It is nice to have a place to go with troubles.
