Shortcut key on Tooltip

Asked by SCCY

I was just wondering if the development team can add shortcut key reminder on the tooltips when hovering the cursor above the buttons of toolbars/panels

For example, when I put my cursor above the node arrow button on the toolbar, a tooltip appears saying:

Edit paths by nodes

It would be nice if it says instead:

Edit paths by nodes (N)

indicating "N" is the shortcut key of that tool.

I can't deny that shortcut keys are really useful on Inkscape but I always forget what key is for what tool. It would be really helpful if that can remind me and other beginners from time to time.

I hope this does not only happen on the toolbar but also tooltips for any buttons/options on any panels where available.

Thank you!

I appreciate your help vwanweb.

I know there are many similar imageries out there that acts as a quick reference for Inkscape shortcut keys but that is not what I am asking for.

If there is such feature I ask for above, with Inkscape opened, I can quickly hover my cursor above the tool and be reminded. However, with such quick reference, I'd probably need to browse to that file and open it.

To some people, these two different reminder methods may not be very much different but I think it makes a difference to beginners who don't know where to start or not even have an idea of shortcut keys.

Think about it, having the reminder on the tooltips have many benefits - It promotes the use of shortcut keys to beginners; It helps many AI users to switch to Inkscape easier; It's native to the Inkscape software and no other software/files required.

This feature existed in 0.46, disappeared in 0.47 and 0.48, and is back in the dev (0.49) version.
