creating a transparent background in a vector graphic

Asked by Randy Taylor

I am trying to create a vector graphic to use as a banner for my website. The problem that I'm having, is that I am not able to create a vector graphic with a transparent background. As far as I can tell, the Document Properties are set up with a transparent background. When I save as a .png file and upload the file to my website, it shows up with a white background around the vector graphic. The .png file should support the transparent background, so the background from the website should show through where the white areas are.

Use >File >Export Bitmap... command, and not the >Save As..., currently Inkscape only supports .png formatting. The >File >Save As... is mainly used for saving your drawing in another graphic format plain svg, .eps & .pdf IMO are the most portable graphic formats that inkscape works the best with.

@vwanweb - Thank you very much...it worked very well actually.. @denise - Hey...! first you select those vector paths by the select and transform objects tool. Then go to > File> Export Bitmap> Then browse the path to save> Export....That's all.. It'll be OK if you will replace your early one also...Try it..to me it worked exactly the same way which he said..

Can you help with this problem?
