officejet 6500 set up with windows 7

We just purchased a wireless computer with Windows 7. We also got a new officejet 6500 wireless printer to go with it. When we tried to setup the printer, we were given an error message listing vista and xp as the operating systems that work with the printer. How can we get the new printer to work with windows 7?
