HPLIP - printer printing black docs in colour
My Deskjet D2660 is nearly out of colour ink. However, I am trying to print just black docs - but it still tries to print them in colour. If I change the printer settings to black only, it still prints them in colour. If I take the colour cartridge out, it prints nothing. Help please.

This is what I got when I ran hp-check -t
HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.9.10)
Dependency/Version Check Utility ver. 14.3

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to
determine if the proper dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already
built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both
compile- and run-time dependencies).

Can you please tell me which document you are trying to print? Is it very specific to a particular document or it happens across multiple applications?
Set the output mode as Normal Grayscale and try it out. It can be done through either hp-toolbox utility or from the cups web-page (http://
Thanks,
A

It happens across multiple docs. I tried setting the output mode as normal grayscale, but to no avail. When I try to print a doc, any doc the printer responds by blinking the power light, both ink lights, & the paper light.
thanks,
-the doctor

It is a valid bug and we are able to reproduce the same. I've kept in our to-do list to fix the same.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
