May I disconnect my printer from the main power supply, when not used ?
hello everybody,
After using my computer and my printer (HP C4472), I got used to totally disconnect my printer from the main power supply (220 volts) after having switched off the system.
But, when restarting the printer, I have to perform at least two power supply disconnection/
Does that mean that it is better to always let the main power supply after having switched off the printer ?
My configuration is :
PC : compaq Presario : Athlon 2600 +, 512 Mo RAM
OS : Linux Debian 5.0.1
Printer : HP Photosmart C4472
HPLIP : 3.9.8
Sunday 1st November : New information :
-------
I can now give more information : the problem occurs ony if start-up the printer AFTER the computer.
If I switch on my printer while the computer is halted (or if there is no USB cable between my printer and my PC), the printer
always starts properly.
But I start it while the computer has already started, the printer does not start on the first time.
Is this a normal behavior ? Do I have to always start first my printer and then the computer ?
Note : I know that I should may first ask the question to HP, but, as I use Linux on my PC, I dont think that HP will give any support for this question.
This is not an important issue. I just would like to know if this is normal or not.

Hi
This doesn't happen normally. If you are still having problems, please post the following information.
1. Output by running the command "hp-check -t"
2. The log files /var/log/syslog and /var/log/
Please post your replies as a new comment (see the editing area and "Just add a comment" at the bottom of the page). Otherwise, it is difficult to notice and track updates.
Thanks!
Suma
