install new printer

Deskjet 2600 All-In-One attached via USB to work locally. Driver software loaded and stored. So far, "no connection " indicated. Maybe I choose the wrong connection type (LPT1).. Please give a hint what I could try

Choose the USB connection type should have a number after it.
the number depends on which USB port it is plugged into.
Pick a page to print like this one, select print. In the upper right corner of the
print page their is a drop down box for what you want to use to print with.
Select your Deskjet 2600 from the list. Then print a test page.
