If you are experiencing issues with the HPLIP file version 3.23.5 downloaded from Launchpad and it is not allowing you to set up your HP printer, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Confirm Compatibility: Ensure that the HPLIP version you downloaded (3.23.5) is compatible with your operating system and printer model. Visit the official HPLIP website or the HP support website to verify the compatibility. If necessary, download the correct version for your specific operating system and printer model.

Check File Integrity: Sometimes, file downloads can get corrupted. Make sure that the HPLIP file you downloaded is complete and not corrupted. Try re-downloading the file from a reliable source and verify its integrity using checksums or by comparing the file size to the official source.

Update System Packages: Ensure that your operating system is up to date with the latest system packages, including any required dependencies for HPLIP. Use the package manager specific to your operating system (e.g., apt-get for Ubuntu) to update the system packages.

Run Installation with Elevated Privileges: To ensure proper installation, run the HPLIP installation with elevated privileges. Depending on your operating system, you may need to run the installation using administrator/sudo/root permissions. This can help overcome any permission-related issues that may be preventing the setup process.

Seek Official Support: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it is recommended to seek support from the official HPLIP support channels or the HP support website. They can provide specific guidance for your printer model and assist you in troubleshooting the installation issue.

When seeking support, provide detailed information about the error messages or any specific issues you encountered during the setup process. This will help the support team understand the problem better and provide you with more accurate assistance.

Remember to consult the official HPLIP documentation and resources specific to your printer model for detailed instructions and troubleshooting steps.

Details, please!

Which operating system are you running?
What is the exact model name (there is at least a LaserJet 2700 and a DeskJet 2700 model)?
How do you want to connect computer and printer - via USB cable or wireless, ... ?

How far did you have success, and where did the failure start?
Problems when downloading the software?
Problems with installing the software?
Problems with defining a printer queue?

etc. etc.
