Installing HPLIP S/W in Pop-OS

The link provided does not provide that version. I tried searching for older versions at https://sourceforge.net/projects/hplip/files/hplip/ and the latest version listed is 3.16.11. I'm a bit confused about these older versions from 2016. Don't the 2022 versions work with Linux? If not, i'll need that corrected link for the 3.16.14 version. Thanks!

Comment #1 is spam and absolute nonsense. Versions numbers are derived from year and month of publication, so 3.16.14 does not make any sense (and does not exist)

I suggest that you try the modified version from the Ubuntu repositories:

sudo apt install hplip hplip-gui

(remark: There is neither the model of the printer mentioned in your question, nor the release of Pop!_OS that you are running.)

Thank you Manfred! That solves my confusion. I did not mention my Pop-OS version and installed printer because Pop-OS was not listed in my latest installed version of HPLIP (3.22.6) and generated an error accordingly, so I reverted my OS back to Ubuntu and was able to successfully run the software for my old printer, a HP Laserjet 1020.

I asked the question to determine if later versions of the software (post 3.22.6) had added Pop-OS to the software distro list as I have ordered an additional printer, HP ENVY 7955e which I want to install on another workstation running the latest version of Pop-OS 22.04. I am familiar with the software installation of HPLIP, but if it doesn't recognize that OS distro there's not much sense going down that path - in which case i'll follow your suggestion regarding the modified version from the Ubuntu repositories in the hope it gets the job done. As an exercise, i'd like to uninstall my current HPLIP software and try out your suggestion on the old printer. Is there an easy way to restart that process since the manual installation gives you the option of uninstalling previous versions?

What would be the best way to pursue having Pop-OS added to the latest versions of HPLIP. As a former programmer this would appear to be an easy fix since Pop-OS is Ubuntu based and Ubuntu is listed in the Code of supported distros in the current software?

There is a file "distros.dat" in the HPLIP installer directory.
That contains the information for the supported operating systems, the name off the packages to install as dependency, etc.
If you are able to add information for Pop!_OS, then this might be a most welcome contribution.
