Support status of Color LaserJet Pro M254dw?

Asked by Johannes Zarl

I ended up buying a Color Laserjet M254dw, thinking it was supported by HPLIP (https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m254dw-printer-color-laser-t6b60abgj/specs/ lists Linux as supported OS).
Obviously I should have double-checked with the printer list on developers.hp.com first, but hindsight is 20/20.

Any chance that the Color Laserjet M254dw will be supported soon, or should I return the printer?

Btw. Linux is also listed on the page "https://support.hp.com/at-de/document/c05708194" under supported network operating systems. It might be a good idea to update that page…

Hi Johannes,

Color LaserJet Pro M254dw is not yet supported by HPLIP. We will get this discussed with HP Program team and update on the support addition for M254dw in the future HPLIP releases.

Thanks,
Nishitha

I purchased an HP HP Pro M254dw without checking on the driver as it said it was Debian compatible!

I have had some success with the HP Pro M252dw driver. The main issue I had was that with text and an image, the black text came out maroon, with a shadow, with the default settings. I set the image black to black (rather than CMY) and it is providing reasonable results. It'll be nice to get the HP Pro M254dw driver though.

Can you help with this problem?
