Printer works slowly with HPLIP

Asked by Konstantin Tokarev

My printer (HP DeskJet 920c) works fine under Windows and Linux, but when I print under linux in 'Draft' mode speed of printing is about 2 pages per minute, while under Windows 98 it did 9 pages per minute as it must do according to manual. What can I do to improve performance of Linux printing (may be some compilation tricks)?

The HP DeskJet 920c is at the "Full (End of support)" support level. This means that although the printer should work, we are no longer testing this device and support is provided "As-Is". For more information on this device you can go here:

With printing speed problems it's usually best to make sure you are using the correct PPD for the device. You can run hp-check -t and check how the printer is configured to be sure the correct PPD is being used.

Sorry for the inconvenience--but hopefully this will point you in the right direction.
