HP Plugin Says Invalid Checksum

Asked by jim

I followed instructions from the forum to run HP-Upgrade. It ran and then said a new version of a proprietary driver was needed. It tried to download the driver and failed with invalid checksum. Where can I get this driver that has a correct checksum?.

Sourceforge site is down (http://sourceforge.net/blog/sourceforge-infrastructure-and-service-restoration/) and unfortunately hp-plugin utility is not able to fetch the plugin.conf from sorceforge site.
Can you directly download the plugin files from here:
https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.7-plugin.run
https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.7-plugin.run.asc

To install the plugin file you can run command 'sh hplip-3.15.7-plugin.run' in terminal or you can run command 'sudo hp-plugin' in terminal and choose the second option to manually select the hplip-3.15.7-plugin.run file and install.

Run command 'hp-setup' to configure the print queue.

I ran the downloaded file and it appeared to update. However nothing will print. Output is held by the print queue and will not release. The hplip messages say print starts and stops but nothing leaves the queue. Test page will not print.

What should I do next?

delete the queue using 'hp-setup -r' command and reconfigure the queue using 'hp-setup' command. This should resolve the issue.

I suggest before running hp-setup, do plugin installation. Download the relevant plugin file and using the command
hp-plugin -i , give the path of the plugin file.

next run hp-setup
