OfficeJet 4620: Scanner not recognized in Ubuntu 13.10

Asked by Sebastian Mahr

Hey everyone,

I am using an OfficeJet 4620 model with ubuntu 13.10. I installed hplib 3.14.3, and the printer and all the hp-utilities worked out ouf the box.
However I cannot get the scanner to work or even see. xsane tells me no devices are found. hp-scan gives the following error message:

error: Unable to locate device hpaio:/usb/Officejet_4620_series?serial=CN3CM3508505S1 using SANE backend hpaio:. Please check HPLIP installation.

Syslog does not have additional info either :-(
I ran hp-check, but it says no warnings or errors detected. Today, I uninstalled hplib and tried again with 3.14.4, but to the same result.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

Canl you please try the following commands.

1. Remove the existing queue using 'hp-setup -r' from the terminal.
2. Re-Configure the queue using 'hp-setup' from the terminal again.

Please let us know if the problem still persists.

Thanks and Regards,
Srikanth Lokare

Hello Srikanth,

thanks for replying. I already removed the queue using the device manager from the GUI and then reinstalled, with consistently the same result.

I will try again using the terminal next week and give feedback.

Thanks again,

Sebastian
