How to set up computer as member of group "lp"

Asked by Bret Campbell

HpLip is set up on my computer (version 3.12.2). However, when I try to print, it cannot locate my HP 3050 printer. After running hp-setup, I received the error message: User needs to be a member of group "lp" to print. User member of "lpadmin".

How do I switch to group "lp"?

Will I need to run any other checks?

Hi Bret,

The user need not be part of lp or lpadmin group any more. Please follow the below steps.

1. Remove the existing queue using 'hp-setup -r' command from the terminal.
2. Please download and install the latest HPLIP 3.13.11 release from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html.
3. Reconfigure the queue using 'hp-setup' from the terminal.

Thanks and Regards,
