add c7280 hplip wireless

Asked by Charles Hartley

Hello,

I am trying to install my wireless networked Photosmart c7280 (AIO) using HPLIP (3.12.9) in order to have scanner support in Linux. I am running Linux Mint 13 (Maya) on a Lenovo Thinkpad w700 laptop.

I ran setup following the instructions for "automatic" install (found here: http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html)- all very straightforward.

However, at the device setup stage, when I select "wireless network" connected printer I am instructed to connect my printer via USB (?!?! which I find mind-boggling, btw). Okay, I connect via USB, click refresh a bunch of times, but the printer does not show up. I then disable the wireless (first), then try again after restarting the printer. Still device does not show. Was able to install (by accident I think) the printer via USB, but then my wife can't use the printer, and this fairly defeats the purpose of a home network. The improved functionality looks great, but I cannot get past the "wireless network" setup stage issue as I said earlier in this description.

Best,
Charles

Ps. happy to provide further details as needed.

Okay, now my printer shows up, but when I click "Next" the process does not advance. Have a screen shot, but will attempt to reproduce Terminal here:

<output>

  File "/usr/share/hplip/ui4/wifisetupdialog.py", line 703, in NextButton_clicked
      self.showNetworkPage()
  File "/usr/share/hplip/ui4/wifisetupdialog.py", line 272, in showNetworkPage
      self.adaptor_id, self.adaptorName, state, prescence = self.wifiObj.setAdaptorPower(self.dev, adaptor_list)
ValueError: need more than 1 value to unpack

</output>
