hp laserjet 1212nf installed but not printing...says it is ready but print job is in held position. The version is Mint 13

Asked by Rlee

I have a one year old pc with Linux Mint 13 installed as operating system. I have tried to get the hp laserjet 1212nf MFP printer to work with this OS by installing hplip 3.12.6 plus the hp certificate and the printer printed the test page. I disconnected everything and moved PC and printer to the office downtown and when I hit print the printer screen reads ready but does not print. When I open up the printer it shows the jobs being held. The printer is set as default. This has been the same problem with Linux mint 13 and linux ubuntu 11.10.
How do I get it to do more than read as being held?

1) Use the printing utility (Menu, Preferences, Printers) to make sure that the printer is shown as connected/idle and configured as "enabled" and "accepting jobs".

2) Has something changed as a result of the move (e.g. new IP address assignment due to DHCP, printer is plugged into different port)? If so, have you tried deleting and re-installing the printer?

I checked and it says it is enabled and accepting jobs. It is a different IP address ...deleted and added printer. Is this different than deleting and re-installing...if so how do I delete and install? Can't say about the port as I don't remember which USB port I used on the initial installation.

Yes, deleting and adding the printer was what I meant by "reinstall".

Were you able to confirm that the printer's status is "connected" and "idle"? (This should be visible on the "settings" tab under "printer state" in Ubuntu, not sure if this is shown on Mint.)

Hi,

Can please install latest HPLIP version from @ http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html
If problem persists, please run "su -c hp-logcapture" and and send us the log files.

Note:- logs can be attached by creating BUG in launchpad.

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
