Service Request 1806 / cups-missing-filter-warning

Asked by william neil hall

When ever I try to print I get the message:

"HPLIP Device status
 HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1212nf_MFP Printer (NPI3F1430)
 Service request (1806)"

if looking from the standard gnome printer gui the status message says:
"there is a missing print filter for the printer 'HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1212nf_MFP'"

my unit recently was hit by lightning, and would not power up. I ordered and replaced the controller board, and replaced it. It seems to be having an issue telling me that the printer toner cartridge is used seeing that the controller board differs from the original that was in the printer when the cartridge was installed. The display flashes between the main screen and the message "Used supply in use".

I have tried to install hplip 3.11.10 on two different computers with the same results.

But after exhausting everything I could do on the Linux systems, I booted up a spare WinXP box I have and am able to print the test page without issue on it. I can also make copies on it so everything I can do points to this being an issue with Linux or hplip.

-thanks in advance

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the issue. From the log it looks like, "hpijs" is enabled instead of "hpcups". Can you install hplip again by following instructions in http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/linuxmint.html

Thanks,
Sanjay

I got all the way through the setup to where you hit the button called "add printer" on the installer. It sets for a while and then a popup comes up and says:

<strong>Printer Error</strong>
Printer is busy, off-line, or in an error state. Please check the device and try again.

output from command line:

It is still saying the service request 1806 under status tab in HP device manager. but the print seems to be installed.

My windows system can still print. but it has started having a informational popup (part of the windows hp software) that says "Used supply in use", but it goes away as soon as the print job is done.

Seems like the software for whatever reason is declaring this "Used supply in use" error as a critical error and not going forward with printer commands.

I never tried to print anything other than the test page. But my 4 year old daughter printed some ark work she made on tux paint. So I tried to print a pdf and a word document they both worked. But for what ever reason when i try to print a test page it gives a popup saying it cannot communicate with the printer, and it logs that 1806 error.

So it looks like that linux mint install worked, thanks.

I've got the exact same "issue" with hplip-3.15.2 + hp-laserjet-M1217-nfw (on kubuntu-14.04)

from the HP Device Manager Plugin my printer appears to be on 1806 error code ,
thus does not print any test pages ,
while it does indeed print anything else from any other applications ,
it appears to leave the 1806 error code status as soon as a print job is carried out and re-enters into 1806 error code state if you try to refresh the listed devices in the HP Device Manager Plugin

I also have the "Used supply in use" message on my hp-printer-lcd (which is correct, since I do use used supplies)
