Tape autloader for Ubuntu
I am looking for a tape autoloader to work with Ubuntu and native commands, like dump and mt. No additional commercial software. Prefer LTO-4 tape drive.
15 years ago or so, I worked with DAT tape autoloaders on Unix servers, which had the capability to automatically load the next tape cartridge in the tape cassette when the currently loaded tape was rewound and ejected, either by mt command or automatically during a dump operation, depending on which device name was used.
This project needs something like that, except more capacity than DAT tapes, so LTO/Ultrium tapes & drives are called for. And, the project does not have a budget for commercial backup software. So an autoloader is needed that can work with native Unix commands/utilities or one that includes backup software that runs on Ubuntu (v 8.x or higher). So many products are sold with Windows backup software, but I haven't seen any that are targeted toward the Linux market, but they may exist.
Thanks.
