You didn't tell us which operating system or version of Homebank you are using so I am assuming that I have the same options available as you do. I'm using HomeBank 5.4.2 and Ubuntu 20.04.

Going to

Edit | Preferences | Interface | Amount colours

via the program menu should allow you to change the colour of currency amounts to contrast well with your background colour.

That did it. Apparently I need to get past my ADD and explore the entire menu instead of cherry-picking. BTW My op sys is Linux Mint 19.3, HomeBank 5.1.6-2 Thanks a bunch.

yes, with dark theme, light tango colors is better.

if GTK themes around at that time were all respecting the rules and had some light/dark variation with light as the default and rely on the user preference for "gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme" to switch from one to another, we could also rely on that and adjust the color programmatically.

But as now, most "themer" guys just don't know what they do, and just do dark theme only, so we can't.
Or we could, but that will imply to guess the main color.
