How does the app recognize a change?

If I open homebank, click manage accounts and press option tab, then close the dialog and close the app, it asks me whether to save the changes (it states I have performed 1 change).

How does this work?

this is a bug.
as the first widget is the list of account here, GTK give it the focus, what activate the 1st entry, and so when you close (you don't need to do anything else in fact), as the item is in a potential change process, it is updated before the close
