systray (LXDE) icon

Asked by Lars Hilgenstock

Hey, I really like this GUI. Only one Question though:
How do I have to configure it to have the Icon in my systray (LXDE)? Or is this feature not implemented and if so are you planing an doing so?

Hi Lars,

What distro do you use? If you use LXDE on Ubuntu (lubuntu) the Haguichi indicator should appear in the Indicator Applet on your panel.

Haguichi doesn't support the old school systray icons anymore since version 1.3.0, as Gtk.StatusIcon has been deprecated in GTK+ 3.14 [1]. Also, systray icons have been completely phased out on some major desktop environments in favor of indicators (Unity/Pantheon) or extensions (GNOME Shell).

I am using Arch Linux, witch unfortunately does not provide any integration for unity or gnome3 indicators in lxde. This seems to be a ubuntu thing :(

Seems to be a KDE Plasma thing too [1][2], only they use sni-qt instead of libappindicator.

Packages for libappindicator are present in the Arch User Repository [3]. So I suppose haguichi-indicator [4] could be build and packaged on Arch, just takes someone to submit (and preferably also maintain) it.

Then, to make use of it on LXDE, it all depends on whether lxpanel on Arch comes with indicator support enabled.

LXDE on Arch seems to support indicators too. Today I've published the haguichi-indicator package to the AUR myself:

Please give this package a try.

Can you help with this problem?
