Can render API return single values?

Asked by Jeff Blaine

I'm looking for a way to get the render API to return a single integer value in order to use it as an endpoint for a monitoring/alerting solution.

As far as I can tell, this is not doable out of the box, and that's why there's code in (for one example) the check*graphite[1] Nagios plugins that does the average/sum calculations in order to spit out a single value.

Am I correct that this is not doable out of the box?

Correct, pretty sure everything that uses Graphite for rendering does some sort of NIH windowing to get a static threshold value.

Can you help with this problem?
