Graphite UI - Asterisk has appeared out of nowhere

Asked by netdisciple

Hello,

A day or two after setting up my fourth graphite installation, a new item showed up at the the top level in the dashboard javascript navigation menu. The node label is an asterisk character, and when its expanded what one would see is the same list one would see at the top-most level, verily a mirror copy of what is at the top-most level, rendered recursively below the asterisk.

I have a separate graphite server for each internal environment, I used the same procedure and same carbon/whisper/graphite versions (0.9.9). I see this only on one of my graphite systems, the one that has the most graphite clients.

The node-globbing seems useful, because with a single click I'm able to bring up a graph that has all the subordinate metrics added to it, but I want to make sure its not some kind of misconfiguration or bug. I want to understand it.

Can anyone tell me where this came from?
Is this a bug or some clever feature I turned on somehow?
Does this feature just show up after you have enough clients?

I think it's just a 'feature.' I've seen it before in the dashboard.

Hey, thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.
Anyone else can point to a relevant doc or description?

I'm having the same issue. What is the cause of this asterisk, or what should it represent? I think I rather get rid of it.

This asterisk wasn't here before, it suddenly appeared.

Also I don't see this in my store whisper files.

What feature is this? I just noticed on my graphite as well. Not sure how can I use it or even how I enabled it or how can I even get rid of it. Any ideas?
