Support for larger photos

Asked by Kenneth

I use Gourmet in Ubuntu and I'm very happy with it. It does essentially all I need an app like this to do. However, photos I add are resized and compressed to such a small size that they are more or less unusable. Will future versions support larger photos, especially in prints and pdf-exports?

Thank you,
Kenneth

It's true that we're currently storing images at a relatively low size. I'd consider this a feature request and thus track it in our GitHub issue tracker at https://github.com/thinkle/gourmet/issues/776

I can't unfortunately give you an estimate yet when I'll get to implement this as we're chronically understaffed and I'm somewhat busy with other things currently... While it might sound trivial to do this, it does require some consideration, as we're e.g. currently storing the images directly in our recipe DB, which might be slowed down by high-res images (i.e. large amounts of binary data), so we might to change that. (At least we'd need to do some tests to find out if they do slow things down.) Also, some people might want to store multiple different sizes, and so on...

Have u thought about making the image smaller? Very easy to do with the correct software. My camera on my phone makes very large pics when I upload. All I do is make them smaller with IRFanview.com

Can you help with this problem?
