Avatar in Vista theme does not display my login picture
OK, this is a bit convoluted and each piece is linked from what I can tell:
I installed 12.04LTS and replaced Unity with Gnome 3.4. Unity was completely removed.
I do NOT have Evolution Mail installed
Gnomenu is being used with AWN (as it is on Zorin 6)
The Gnomenu avatar in the Vista theme does not display my login picture
I understand that the widget that displays the avatar uses the gnome-about-me feature which needs the Evolution engine to work. gnome-about-me is aparrently not installed on my system, likely because Evolution mail wasn't installed when I downloaded and installed Gnome. I also understand that Gnome 3.4 has a new feature called Gnome Contacts (which can be run by typing gnome-contacts in Terminal).
I don't want to install Evolution mail but I want the avatar to work correctly (I actually built my own theme which is a variant of the Zorin OS Windows 7 theme and that's the avatar I want to have display my choice of picture).
So, the question is:
Can I get Gnomenu to use Gnome Contacts instead to provide that functionality? Failing that, how can I get the avatar to work properly?
