Avatar in Vista theme does not display my login picture

Are you refering to the Avatar appearing in GnoMenu or on Unity Greeter?
If GnoMenu the issue is Gnome 3 no longer uses a .face picture file (bmp
format) to get the avatar on GnoMenu copy your avatar to your home
directory and rename it .face then it will appear in GnoMenu. remember
it needs to be 96 X 96 pixels.

Thank you - that's exactly what I'm looking for. Will Gnomenu be altered to run seamlessly with AWN under Gnome3 / Unity? There is a HUGE need for a decent interface to compensate for the glaring shortcomings of both Gnome3 and Unity and the combination of the two apps would be perfect.

Helder has sadly moved on from Gnomenu and its development is being
branched out by various others for MATE, Awn and other interfaces. I use
Zorin OS and have GnoMenu running fine with Awn but there is no .deb
package yet. I am working with the Zorin developers to handle Awn
specific issues and GnoMenu and at some point get a debanized version
for Awn in place. Its a slow process as they have to concentrate on the
entire user interface not just the menu.

Well, at least there's hope. :) Thanks for all your insight - this app is hugely appreciated. It's the only thing that makes 12.04 usable.
