Will there be a Natty release?

Asked by Kev Quirk

Hey Guys,

I am a PinguyOS user but I use gnomenu as my menu of choice. I have recently upgraded one of my computer to PinguyOS 11.04 Beta but I notice that there is no release of Gnomenu for Natty yet. I understand this as Natty has gone with Unity by default but I was jsut wondering if there is going to be a release for Natty so that I can continue to use it? And if so, when?

Thanks guys,

Kev

I just started to use Natty 11.04 and I find problem. The menu is "flickering" when I open it.. In 10.10 Gnomenu works without any problems.

There are probably a couple of causes. One is that Ubunty changed out X-11 with Wayland and rewrote Compiz to work with Wayland. Secondly many of the parts in Classic Gnome Desktop mode are Gnome 3 components which at this point are incomplete. What we are waiting to see is if Gnome 3 will also have a classic desktop option when all is finished. Gnome 3 as of now is still in early release and if we find that we can no longer support GnoMenu in Gnome 3 then the most likely scenario is going to Xfce and porting GnoMenu over to that and make it a native application.

Definitely is an X and Compiz' trouble.
Using Natty's X, Gnome 2.30 and Compiz 1.0.8 and having the same ugly flicks.
Without compiz works smoothly.. :).

Noticed that myself. GnoMenu works fine until I turn on Compiz for desktop effects. I'm currently using MintMenu right now because for some reason GnoMenu opens below the bottom panel. Haven't tried it on a top panel setup but I don't like top panels.

I 've seen that also. Changing the theme from Vista to iTheme, for an example, make it works right.
Usually happens with netbooks or too small resolutions (below 800x600)... at least in several cases i tried.

I have a laptop with a 1440 X 900 resolution and I see that. Some reports on this are on desktop systems as well. Its a Compiz issue with GnoMenu. I have had no luck with changing the theme myself.
