GNOME Split

Join video files avi.001, avi.002... avi.0xx / mpg.001 / wmv.001... with Gnome Split

Hello,
the splitter is working well. However, is there an method to split not intop blocks but into parrallel bytes?
It means the first byte to 1st split, the 2nd byte to 2nd split and so goeson.
Thats to avoid looking in cvs files or big run files to see what scriptings doing

Hello,

The question you just ask is funny. Why? I commited a code to do what you want to. You will be able to merge files *.001, *.002, etc... with the 0.3 release of GNOME Split which is actually out (available in the GNOME Split team PPA). Because there is no header in the first file, we cannot check the integrity of the created file nor display the total progress of the merge. But if the chunks are correct the final file will probably be too.

About running GNOME Split from a context menu, it will be done one day (I don't know when yet). We are working to know how the user will interact with GNOME Split via Nautilus and then we will code it.

Thanks for your quick answer and the great announce.

It's a funny coincidence, as I had this question since a long time and took yesterday the last day of holidays to do some complete bug reporting / demands on many open-source softwares.

So I will test 0.3 release in a few hours and let you know.

I tested Gnome Split 0.3 for assembling an avi.001 video, it works perfectly !
