Excel2LaTex add-Ins fails to pop up. Can't find it when load it.

Asked by Jing Yang

I am using Mac Office 2011. I loaded Excel2Latex in Add-Ins. But, I can't find any icon or any change to my excel sheet. As the Readme file said, there should be an button in the Add-Ins Ribbon. I can't even find the Ribbon named "Add-Ins". I looked up for the Preferences for Ribbon. There is no such name called "Add-Ins". The only possible Ribbon name is "Developer". It doesn't help much. Is there any other way to use Add-Ins or turn on the Add-Ins Ribbon?

I have the same problem. By the way there's a message that pops up when I open Excel2LaTeX.xla, saying this:

"This file contains Visual Basic macros. The macros have been disabled.
If you save it, the file will contain the Visual Basic project."

I realized that the version of Excel2LaTeX that is available on CTAN is 3.1 even though on March 2012 there were news of a new release, 3.2, fixing compatibility with Office for mac 2011. I couldn't find version 3.2 anywhere.

I had a similar problem, but I figured it out.

I followed http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/load-or-unload-add-in-programs-HP010096834.aspx to load the add-in instead of the read-me.

Then I got stuck again because the Add-in tab was not showing up in the ribbon, but i finally figured out if close excel and restart it the add-in tab would show up.

I'm sorry but I don't get it. foxhound, are you using Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac? because the site you referred to talks about Office 2007 for Windows, the menus and buttons it mentions are not the same in Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, however I figured out the menu it referred to, but I had already done that.

I believe the problem is due to the inability of Excel 2011 to use Visual Basic macros, which Excel2Latex seem to use. Can anyone confirm if I'm right there?

I agree with nacho. Foxhound's tip doesn't help at all.

Can you help with this problem?
