Is posible to launch epoptes from a different machine than a classroom server

Asked by aberlanas

Hello!

I am a developer o a derivated ubuntu distribution of Valencia (LliureX) and we currently works with epoptes.
I would like to thank all the work you doing. It's great!

We have a littel-difference with your system architecture, and in some cases the epoptes must be launched from a computer that not is the Server of the classroom.

We made a patch to solve this (change the unix socket to TCP socket), but we are interested in made a "sostenible" patch working together.

Is possible include this feature in the roadmap of Epoptes?

Thanks for all!

Forgive my english!

Hello,

It is in our plans to add remote UI execution support and we are currently working on it. Thank you for your suggestion, we will include this in our roadmap.

I'm running LTSP server on headless Ubuntu 16.04 LTS server with 50 fat clients and I want to use Epoptes on different machine in the same net.
How should I correctly do this?
Currently I use `ssh -X user@ltsp-server epoptes` but it is not stable.
Do we have better method?

Hi, Epoptes has moved to github for issues:
https://github.com/Epoptes/epoptes/issues

I'll completely delete "launchpad answers" as they just confuse users.
