will eOS move to a newer kernel -or newer versions of the oss gfx driver?

I think that the opensource drivers are causing my system to run hot - my only evidence for this is that ubuntu 12.10 w/ propietary drivers ran 10-20 degrees cooler- and I am wondering if newer revisions of the oss drivers have fix/improved on this issue.

elementary OS Luna is not moving to 12.10, only Luna+1 (the version to come after Luna) will be based on a yet-to-come Ubuntu version.

For now, you have to look for a PPA for more recent packages.

Ubuntu LTS releases (which elementary is based on) do tend to get backported drivers/kernel improvements. But it cannot be predicted which elementary will receive.
