How to disable centering new windows?

And may it be configured particularly? For example for all windows - centering is normal, but for skype and empathy - not so..

The "default" wm depends on hardware support, if you've got 3D accel enabled, it's compiz, if not, metacity.

But it doesn't matter, because the only wm that supports (and enables) center placement is Compiz. So, go into CCSM and open the "Place" add-on's settings and change it from there.
