Installation error ubuntu

Hi,
I am trying to install ubuntu 10.04 inside windows xp sp3. the installation seems to go on fine..only when it reboots and we select Ubuntu on boot..then an error comes stating that Ubuntu could not be installed and needs to reboot..
My Pc has more than 100 gb space and 1gb Ram..
Pls help as i am a gr8 fan of Ubuntu.

do you want to use ubuntu side by side with windows ?
or may you delete windows ?
also try ubuntu 10.10 it is newer.
