Are there plans to allow simple right-click ecryptfs folder mounting

Asked by Martin Wimmer

I'm thinking about mainstream users that want to encrypt a sensitive folder on their external hard disks.

This would require:
- Some kind of Nautilus (or other file-manager) integration with right-click option "decrypt" for ecryptfs folders and the ability to create encrypted folders (or maybe even convert folders to encrypted folders on the fly)
- Ecryptfs folders should store the type of encryption used, bit-lengths, etc.
- In an ideal case this would work without root rights (mounting a drive in nautilus also works without sudo)

Is this possible with ecryptfs. Are there plans to implement something similar to this?

Dustin will be able answer re 'plans', but I think a user could do this by using symlinks from his external disk to the unhidden ~/Private dir, used by eCryptfs. Not sure though - I never tried.

Hi Martin-

Several people have asked about this. I think it would be nice, but I
don't know of anyone actually working on this actively. Sorry!

Can you help with this problem?
