can not access workspaces- no icons except trash

Asked by January Strawser

I have 4 work spaces (desktops.) I can only access the other 3 when accidentally moving something to that workspace. The 4 desktop icons no longer appear at the bottom right corner and the only icon available in this corner now is the trash. I have to restart my computer to get to the only desktop now available and loose anything that has been "moved" to workspaces other than the one that is originally loaded. The icons disappeared about 3-5 days ago.

I've tried testing, loading different versions, cleaning, sweeping, updating, everything a non computer literate (myself) could think of and nothing has helped.

I either need to be able to fairly easily access the desktops (workspaces) or have them removed completely.

I just moved my windows bar (icon barely visible on the bottom left corner) access to another workspace and can no longer find it.

This is not an EasyMenu related question, although I will give you a brief reply for your problem.

------

Assuming you are using Ubuntu (so Gnome) maybe what happened is simply that you have accidentally deleted the workspace switcher from the bottom panel.

To re-add it just right-click on an empty section of the bottom panel and select "Add to Panel...", then select the "Workspace Switcher" item (one of the lasts).
After that you can right-click on the re-appeared workspace switcher and select "Move" to place it where you prefere.

Another way to switch between workspaces is the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+Alt+LeftArrow" and "Ctrl+Alt+RightArrow".
