Can't install Docky in Ubuntu 19.04

Asked by Томица Кораћ

I've just upgraded my Ubuntu installation from 18.04 to 19.04. After reboot, Docky is gone from the installed apps (got uninstalled during upgrade). I've been trying to install it through PPA (there's no version for Disco distro), and manually (I get all sorts of 'missing library' dependency errors).

How can I get Docky back to Ubuntu? Thanks!

Have you tried plank? It may work as a substitute (at least for now) and I believe 19.04 will meet the dependencies.

I'm not sure if everyone else has given up hope, but I recently switched off 18.04 LTS and discovered (to my sadness) the docky situation.

Anyway, I wrote up how to get 2.2.1.1 working from the debian stretch bits here:
https://github.com/sz3/docky/wiki/Running-2.2.1.1-on-modern-linux

I'm still not sure how to actually build docky from source though...

Can you help with this problem?
