Not working with Ubuntu 17.10

Asked by giri Rao

Diodon not working with Ubuntu 17.10. It launches and the paper clip sits at the top right, but Ctrl C neither copies to it, nor Ctrl V pastes the text in any box. Also, after you try it once, Diodon crashes and the paper clip disappears.

I have tested it with 17.10 in a VirtualBox. It seems to work fine here and I couldn't reproduce your issue.

Could you try following commands:

killall diodon
G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all diodon > diodon_debug.txt

Now start using Diodon till it crashes and attach the log file. Thanks.

Tried the commands you suggested. diodon_debug.txt is presumably the log file? Nothing gets written to it. Diodon crashes, but that file remains empty.

After Diodon crashes, the Terminal says "Segmentation fault (core dumped)".

(I installed ClipIt since Diodon wasn't working. ClipIt works fine.)

I was able to reproduce the issue on another machine. It seems that the problem is Wayland. When I start Gnome in a xorg session Diodon seems to work.

I linked a issue addressing this issue. It is not gonna be that easy though as Diodon relies on quite a few X features (e.g. for instant pasting etc.)

How to start in Xorg session can be found here:

Can you help with this problem?
