Autocomplete - Feature Request

Asked by Thomas Güttler

I don't run the latest version of Diodon, for give me, if this is already implemented.

It would be great to have autocomplete in diodon like ctrl-r in bash or other readline based applications.

I have no clue if this is possible at al. I guess this is very hard to implement ...

I guess what you are looking for is a searchable clipboard history.

If you use Unity you could use the Diodon Unity Scope - see details here https://esite.ch/2014/03/clipboard-unity-scope-with-its-full-potential/

There are also a request already which goes into the same direction:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/diodon/+bug/891042

I am unsure if I should hit the "This Solves My Problem" button below.

Thank you Oliver for your information. The blog post is two years old. I am running 16.04, but unfortunately hitting super-b does nothing.

Since there is no other button I will press it.

you need to install Unity Diodon Scope separately for this to work:

sudo apt-get install unity-scope-diodon

now logout and login again and <Super>b should work.

Yes, great works.

But I must get used to it. If I hit super-b my eyes see 12*7 = 84 times the same big icon, which I am not interested in at all.

My eyes need to find the important information between the icons. This needs more mental energy than the normal diodon interface (N lines below each other).

Do you like this interface? Do you think it should be the way it is?

This is a integration of Diodon into Unity. How it looks is entirely up to the Unity desktop environment. For Diodon it is just another option to browse through the history. My preferred way of using Diodon is also the app indicator but once in a while I need a clip from long in the past and then the Diodon scope comes in handy.

Can you help with this problem?
